Ermine Poort has started her career
as a painter on a mountain in Ibiza. In 1991 she enrolled in the
Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, from which she graduated
in 1995. She took classes from a. o. Jim Dine and Nan Goldin at
the Salzburg Summer Academy. In 2001 She was asked to be a board
member at Pulchri Studio, The Hague.
In December 2001 Ermine Poort opened her own Galerieatelier in
The Hague. There she has taken up promoting her work, including
portraits on commission. At the same time it's her studio.
Newsflash: 1 november 2004 ermine moved her gelerieatelier
to Wassenaar, open by appointment.
For her portraits, Ermine Poort works mainly from photographs,
preferably taken by herself. The portraits are not classical in
the true sense of the word; they have a distinct 'ermine-style'
about them: Powerful, clear and colourful. They are contemporary
portraits with a timeless quality.
Her main objective is to translate the essence of the person portrayed
onto the canvas.
Open by appointment.
